In Time when individual family was running business, when family survival was and again today is most important, industry is so slow to react to its killing it self committing what I call suicide from ambush.
Whatever many say in the world today some points for me were and are unquestionable.
In 1986 we were fishing two to three days from Guam.
In 1990 we were fishing around Papua New Guinea.
In early ninety's we were fishing far south and toward South America.
In eighty's we were fishing mature fish on fumers, in ninety's were on "Palo" or driftwood
and all this was moving toward South America.
In eighty's for size of Tunidas check the existing documents, but ill tell you if then big eye drop on your neck from power block you were lucky if just knock you out, and not kill you or rip you open. In ninety's, if big eye pop on your neck you'll just shakes off and continue stocking the net.
I want all to understand one thing. I am , was, and will be proponent of free fishing , as I have seen it in its Hay Days, but with all this what is going on in the world i will allowed my self for short prediction.
With N. Koreans acting crazy, PR of China (Beijing or Peking) stretching its muscles, Russian bear awakening after hibernation, Africa in turmoil, EU still in diapers , situation is as close to the situations prior first and second WW as close can come.
My prediction is as Follows: Only way fish stocks world wide will survive is to third WW starts.
This will once again as during first and second give fish approximately 5 to ten years of recuperation as high seas will be to dangerous for any fishing boats. It is not enough but significant increase in fish stocks were always reported in war times and or war zones.
People being in survival mode due climate crash in North, Draught at middle and desalination of Ocean with increased acidity far North and South, will commence what people always do. Fight.
Some country's are in that mode already albeit they do not admit.
Please check stocks of crude purchased in advance, gold, silver, boksit, recycle metals,and all others important for war economy and you'll find what I am talking about.
When all that pieces of world history once again fall in place, stupid humans will have one more chance to destroy it self , and fish will probably if it go to church praise its God for sending a doom and gloom on this creatures that cant swim and must breath air to survive.
Our ancestors were surviving on fishing because it was sustenance. When it become industry that was the end of the world we know.
If we that knew fishing in Good old days do nothing, it will be newer again any good fishing days.
If any Old timer remember fishing in T shirts without fear of jelly fish, to switching to full rain gear as jelly dropping down as rain?
If any Old timer remember needing partner to move blue fin on the deck, to the times when one alone can drag two or three with easy ?
What is this than change , unwanted but man made?
This change is here and is here to stay!
Lord have mercy on us for what we have done!
I acknowledge points that make situation worst:
- Population increase and will be beyond control
- With Population Boom increases demand of drinking water and food sources
- With Population increase will increase desperation of Governments to provide for their Population
- This can and always was trigger for conflicts.
I just pray to all my fishermen brethren will be safe and in the ports when Hell brake loose.
I just hope to fish can forgive us, and not have us for breakfast when worst come to worst.
